A saturated red field unifies an intimate interior: a seated figure in a work shirt turns three-quarter toward the viewer, gray hair and beard catching cool highlights, round blue-tinted glasses giving the face a guarded calm. Behind and slightly above, a second figure holds a phone as if framing the scene; both are set against a dark bookcase whose verticals and rectangles stabilize the composition while deep maroons and oxides push the space back.
Brushwork alternates between soft glazes and crisp edge accents—creases in the shirt, cheek planes, and the rim of the spectacles—letting forms emerge from the red ground rather than sit on top of it. Sparse blue notes (lenses, jeans, a sliver at lower left) counterweight the warm palette, while lost-and-found edges around hands and hair keep the mood introspective and slightly elusive, a contemporary twist on the mirror-based self-portrait.
