The second in my series of three snow day paintings captures the moment when late afternoon light transformed the landscape into something magical. Lanin Volcano, that iconic symbol of Patagonia, dominates the background while our weary procession pushes forward.

By this point, the horses had been trudging through deep snow for eight hours. The sun had set and the cold was deepening, but the extraordinary colors of snow and sky demanded to be captured. Even the dogs were showing their exhaustion. My friend Lucas, naturally, leads our homeward-bound group through this vast winter wilderness.

I sought to preserve that profound sense of distance—the long journey still ahead before reaching home and warmth. This painting is framed and ready for display.
