This is a painting of my friend, Dick Gebhard on his all black horse, “Duke”. It was painted as a companion piece to mirror “Gaucho on a Palomino”. I sent Dick a picture of the Gaucho painting and he replicated the pose. This is also painted in very few colors. Dick is an excellent horseman and I hope that his shows how comfortable he rides Duke. Duke is a handful but well trained by Dick. Very few people can ride him. He and Duke are almost like a dog and dog owner the way that they relate to one another.
